You need to be able to bend and twist with ease when you perform various yoga positions.

What Not to Wear

Getting the full benefits from yoga depends on your ability to successfully perform the positions. If you don’t have the right shakti yoga wear, that could be difficult to do, but just as importantly, you should know what not to wear. Thus, wearing clothes that restrict your body movements are a no-no and so your yoga wear cannot include wearing jeans, and also dress shirts that will only constrain your movements and also not let you breathe in a free manner. So, take a few minutes and really think about your yoga wear. Make sure you wear clothing that is loose fitting and unrestrictive.

Since you will need to perform a number of different yoga poses, you would do well to consider yoga shorts as well as perspiration clothes and even leotards or yoga pants as appropriate shakti yoga wear. You’ll also want to make sure your shakti yoga wear is made of absorbent fibers that won’t clump and stick to your skin.

Choosing comfortable shakti yoga wear is more important than choosing something fashionable. You want to be able to relax, and you won’t be able to do that if you are worrying about how you look. You may want to consider wearing yoga shoes or socks, especially if you attend a yoga class.

When you are choosing your shakti yoga wear there really isn’t much difference between women’s and men’s clothes (other than the cuts/contours of the pants). The only time you would need a specific kind of yoga gear is if you were going to perform Prana Yoga. This form of yoga requires you wear lightweight clothes, especially pants, preferably made of nylon or spandex.

You’ll still need shakti yoga wear that absorbs moisture, so go for a cotton/stretch blend. It will allow you to move the way you need for Prana Yoga, it’s light weight, and it will soak up that perspiration!

Wyatt Pottoe

Searching for inner peace? First, you need to be able to identify your chakras.

Those who perform chakra meditation believe that the human body has vital points of energy. These energy centers are used consciously or unconsciously, and have great influence over our life experiences. “Chakra” is the term used to define these critical points.

Chakras are found in different areas throughout the human body. There are seven chakras in total, each holding influence over the area in which it is found. Every chakra has its own distinctive property.

There is a chakra, located at the base of the spine, known as the Root Chakra. The Root Chakra affects the health, structure and safety of your body. Traditionally called muladhara and also known as the coccyx, this chakra is associated with how one’s body links to the material world. It is also symbolized by a red-colored circle surrounded by four golden petals.

The Naval Chakra or svadisthana, a fundamental point located in the lower abdomen, is associated with the feelings of love, passion, sexuality as well as pleasure. People experiencing positive feelings would send feedback to this chakra, which is associated with the orange color.

The Solar Plexus Chakra is found just above the navel and below the chest. A vital point influencing one’s force and willpower, this chakra is the point at which self-control, authority and discipline. Yellow is the colour of this powerful chakra.

The Heart Chakra, or anahata, is found in the middle of the chest area. Love and understanding are the focus of this chakra, as well as the feelings that result from these sensations. The Heart Chakra is related to the colour green.

A critical point located in the throat area is called the vishuddha, or Throat Chakra. This chakra is linked to communication and associated with a sky blue colour.

The Brow Chakra or the anja is a vital point located on the forehead, just above the eyes. This chakra is associated with our sensitivity outside the physical sphere and is known to the Buddhists as the region of the “Third Eye.” This clairvoyance-related focus point is associated with the color indigo as well.

The Crown Chakra, or sahasrara, is found at the central point on top of the head. Naturally, this important chakra is concerned with the spirit and the mind. One’s consciousness and items related to the High Self are dictated by the violet-coloured Crown Chakra.

If you are interested in practicing Chakra meditation, you’ll find that it has the ability to stimulate your vital energy points and lead to beneficial side effects. Be careful though, as too much mental energy is not always wise for people who do participate in much physical activity. Ask for expert guidance when learning chakra meditation or you may risk developing personality problems due to a chakra imbalance.

In recent weeks, I stood countless times in admiration in front of the beautiful rainbows, which have graced the sky of Boulder with their presence. Silent, still, eyes wide open admiring the multitude of colors enlightening the sky. I held the spectrum of light in sight, reflecting on the deep connection to colors I was feeling at that very moment and I have felt my whole life.

Witnessing, so many times in a few days, the beautiful experience of light passing through a perfect prism surely was the entire Universe reflecting back to me on the vision I had a year ago to give birth to Khroma Yoga. The Universe was telling me I had aligned with my purpose in life by embracing my passions for colors and yoga and engaging them professionally to express my most profound yearning to promote and support health and peace in my community and in the world. Engaging with my purpose was enabling my very own colors to unveil, my unique identity. The rainbow was literally the Universe nodding at me. And I have no doubt it was … Colors have been my light on yoga and yoga my light on Life.

However, I sure was not the only one in Boulder witnessing, admiring, and connecting with these rainbows! Yet my connection with them felt so unique! Well this is exactly it. My connection with it was unique, and so was that of everybody else! We each contemplated the same rainbows, yet each of us had a very different experience with it, each unique, with its own hue, and value and chroma. These differences in perceptions, stories, feelings, interpretations are exactly what makes up the full color spectrum of our world and all of it coming from the same source, light.

What holds for the rainbow, holds for all experiences. It does not matter how many people look at the same piece of Art, study the same subject, work in the same field, each and every single one of us have our own experience of it and, as a result, develop a very unique value that no one else except us can bring forth into the world.

This is the premise by which I flow in life and which inspires my work with yoga, personal and marketing awareness. It is the seed from which I gave life to Khroma Yoga.

To your colors and all the colors of Life,

Cecile Desire, Founder of Khroma Yoga

Paul.A.White

Paul White is a teacher who writes for the popular Chakra Balance website. Visit here to receive twenty-nine FREE seven chakra meditation healing and balancing mp3 audios.

When balance is brought about, absolutely everything works at its best. The environments, our diet, our bodies, power, government, the universe, the tides, the weather, the water cycle, and all other circles within our existence need to be at equilibrium to fully function. A well balanced body begins with a well balanced diet, a well balanced environment, and understanding the need to balance the seven chakras with each other.

It is only when these inner and outer parts of our self, or chakras, are in harmony or balance, do we find true bliss, or harmony from within and without. It is when all seven chakras are in balance that we can perform at our optimum in life. This means that we perform our daily tasks much more effectively. It is also the healthy balance of these chakras which directly relates and balances both our soul and spiritual life

What Do We Need for Seven Balanced Chakras?

All seven chakras must be in alignment and be well cared for. These seven tips below will help you begin to heal and balance your seven chakras.

First we must remove negative energy foods from our bodies. This first step involves replacing as much of our dead and over processed food in our diet with live, fresh foods. Making sure to drink plenty of purified and ionized water, along with organic foods also helps provide the first part of this balance.

Second, we must remove all negative thinking form our minds as much as possible. Many hold negative thoughts, talk negatively to themselves and others, and think negatively. To change this, a person must begin to change those negative thoughts, feelings, and action with positive ones at their own pace. Simply start with the one you notice. Keep a note pad handy and every time a negative thought or idea comes to mind, write it down, cross it out, then write a positive counterpart to it. You will notice in the coming weeks much more positive energy from within.

Third, remove negativity from your life. This means violent entertainment, violent video games, and violence in any form. Avoid people who act and speak negatively. You may want to help them; however, until you are fully balanced yourself, there is nothing you can do for them. So first, you need to change negative people, behaviors, and stressors for your life as much as possible and make room for positive energy, and then, fill those negative things in with positive things. This may mean helping the environment or community instead of watching a violent movie. Or it may mean taking up a peaceful hobby which provide you with quiet time to reflect.

Fourth, strive to promote healing from within. This may be a spiritual movement for some and it may be a journey for others. Strive to provide a spiritual and harmonic balance in your spiritual life and outlook towards others. Some people may take up meditation, others may use audio tapes with visualizations or soft music, and still others may prefer to lay out on the grass daily and listen to the birds and the wind or other nature sounds. Whichever you choose, make it a daily habit of 15 to 30 minutes. Schedule it in at first, until it becomes your habit.

Fifth, get physical. Take care of the physical part of your body with refreshing exercise. This does not mean you need to take up body building or work out for long amounts of time each day. A simple daily walk of 15 or 20 minutes should suffice. Take up a type of yoga practice such as Hatha yoga, or Kundalini yoga, or even Pilates, or even light ballet. These both promote health, vitality, chakra flow and balance, and refresh the adrenal glands.

Sixth, take part in regular cleanses. Some people find that fasting for one day per week helps. Others find that a week long fast a couple of times per year does work for them. You may even find that performing an herbal or a colon cleanse, two or three times per year helps you. This will promote bad and negative energy as well as toxic build up from pollution and waste to be removed from the body. Bathe daily. Keep the outside of yourself and the inside of yourself clean for good balance.

Seventh, although the western and modern worlds promote a hectic pace, you would do well to strive for balance instead. Set limits to the amount of work you do. Work smarter, not harder. Learn to manage your money better and strive for self reliance. Be sure to get plenty of rest and sleep. Take time out to relax and reflect. Set limits with yourself and others. Sleep is termed unintentional meditation. It is time for the body to shut out external stimulation and balance itself. Make sure to get enough sleep and good sleep when you need it.

More Tips for Balancing the Seven Chakras

The chakras themselves correspond to seven parts of our selves. In many different eastern and western medicines they have been identified as sources or energy, wheels of energy, or flows of energy. In western medicine they correspond to the endocrine systems and the nervous system. The seven chakras are as follows:

1. Muladhara: Lower Body (Seat of energy within the legs.)

2. Swahisthana: Reproductive parts (The reproductive glands.)

3. Manipura: Navel (The endocrine glands.)

4. Anahata: Heart (The literal heart, and Love.)

5. Vishuddha: Throat (Thyroid and other throat glands.)

6. Ajna: Eyebrow, Forehead (the thalamus, Hypothalamus, and Endocrine system.)

7. Sahasrara: Top Of head (Mental Awareness and Spiritual Awareness.)

Only when all seven of these parts or opens, in harmony with each other and in harmony with the outside world does harmony come to be bliss, or bring the person happiness. When any one of them is out of harmony, then the person will start to seek the harmony by looking outward for material pleasures. Therefore, for true inner peace, the philosophy of he balance of chakras states that when one looks outward for self gratification in any one of the seven areas which correspond to the seven chakras, then it is that chakra which is imbalanced.

To bring harmony back to any chakra balance, the person need to look within and follow the seven tips above along with searching from within for peace and balance to that system. Many find that bringing balance in the form of activities, self reflections, meditation, color harmony within the home, harmony within ones social life, and harmony with ones diet and exercise, does one find good balance in the chakras.

Timothy Aaron Whiston

To learn more about the ancient chakra points and how basic chakra meditation can improve your life, be sure to visit the author’s site today.
The human chakra system was discovered thousands of years ago, and has been confirmed by numerous proven studies like acupuncture, yoga, and reiki. This amazing aspect of human health represents the raw energy of the human being.
I like to think of the chakra system as the fifth level of human being. Allow me to put this into perspective:

We are all aware of the physical body, psychological awareness, and emotional mind where the mental and physical actually meet in the form of peptides. Many people also choose to acknowledge the spiritual realm of life; by this reckoning we now have four aspects of the human form.

The chakra system, with its meridians and auric fields, represents the raw energy the flows through the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual expressions of a human being. It can be thought of as the source power that drives our existence.

When certain areas of the chakra system are out of balance, physical disease can manifest in the body. Likewise emotional disorders can occur when other aspects of the human energy system are blocked or out of balance.

By correcting imbalances and allowing the healthy flow of energy through the chakra system, so-called incurable diseases can be eliminated, severe emotional problems can be corrected, and so forth. While western medicine has not fully endorsed this concept yet, more doctors are accepting the wonderful reality of the chakra system.

Within the next 50 years it is extremely likely that mainstream medicine will embrace the chakra points system. In fact, the only thing preventing widespread acceptance of chakra healing and chakra wisdom at this time is a politically motivated medical community.

Sickness is big business, especially while the pharmaceutical companies maintain their current level of financial influence over medical publications and general practices. But as the human mind continues to evolve and our species moves out of the neo dark age of corruption and self-sabotage, the myriad benefits of our natural energy systems will play an important role.

In addition to advanced healing benefits, knowledge of the chakra system empowers an individual with greater self-knowledge and direct access to the subatomic energy from which all things flow. Science has recently proven the existence of a unified quantum field, or an entangled essential reality at the core of all things; such a truth was spoken of freely thousands of years ago in Vedic and Taoist writings.

How ironic, it seems, that we are finding the universal wisdom in teachings made available in ancient times.

An exploration of the chakra system requires no specific religious orientation, and no particular spiritual practices. In fact, there is nothing at all mystical or paranormal about the chakra centers and their associated meridians.

One can take a completely scientific approach to the study of his or her own chakra system and base conclusions solely on the outcome of various meditations and exercises. Even the skeptic is likely to be fascinated by the very real and tangible results of such experimentation.

I challenge you to empower yourself by exploring the chakra system further. Doing so is entirely safe, and can be done with only a small amount of preliminary knowledge.

WHY SHOULD ONE MEDITATE?

To realize who one is. This is the main goal of meditation. But, as there is extreme turbulence and suffering in most of the minds, the first motivating factor can be the cessation of agitation and pain. It is only when one understands that happiness and fulfilment are a state of being independent of external factors that one can learn to outgrow suffering and turmoil. When the mind is able to remain unconditionally peaceful vis a vis the external situations, there occurs the possibility of meditation. So the first reason that one should learn and practice meditation is the cessation of turbulence.

The Solution: Detachment from one’s own mind

It is not only the suffering, but even the apparently harmless agitations of mind have their roots in illusory conditionings. If one wants to experience true peace and happiness, one will have to understand and detach from these unconscious stories. The best deConditioning happens through deep contemplation. The best way of doing deep contemplation is in a peaceful and solitary place. Doing a retreat is always helpful, but it might not be feasible for one and all. There can be exigencies, beyond one’s control, which don’t allow one to live in a retreat environment.

Five Principles of Z Meditation:

It is very important that the principles of any mind work are clear and rational. These are the principles of Z Meditation that have been used to device Deep Inquiry, Radiant Mantras and the entire retreat structure:
No proof, No Belief

All belief should be scientifically substantiated. One should be able to experience one’s beliefs.

No Concepts, No Peace

There is zero possibility of suppressing the turbulence of the mind by mechanical means. For lasting peace, the concepts must be understood clearly.

No Mother-tongue, No Understanding

One thinks best in one’s own language. Without deep thinking, one cannot integrate the knowledge with one’s life.

No Tuning, No Music

Meditation does not mean torturing the body or the mind. It is an enjoyable and radiant way to clear the mind of turmoil and see things in the Truth-Light. The middle path is the best path. If you are into self affliction, you cannot think clearly. Without clear thinking, you cannot detach from your age-old conditionings.

No Integration, No Dance

Meditation is a way of life and not just a routine. If the rest of the day is not lived in conformity with what one practices in one’s meditation, one cannot make progress just by doing some monotonous motorized exercises.

These are revolutionary principles of meditation. Integrating them with one’s practice, one can make speedy and enduring progress in this beautiful mind-elevation game.

Reveal your full spectrum with Khroma Yoga practices!

Yoga in Sanskrit means union and “Khroma” in Greek, means color. Light is a union of colors. Colors reveal the composition of every entity. It is the signature, a truly unique “barcode” giving each of us an exclusive identity. Just as a rainbow occurs when light passes through a crystal clear prism, your colors fully reveal themselves when your life force passes freely through a clear and healthy self.

Connecting with the internal and external workings of your energy flow is to connect with your health. In Old French, the word “cure” signified healing and restoration of the “whole self” – physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. In this sense, Yoga is a “cure”. Yoga is a means to reconnect with, access and regulate the energy held within your body to reach and maintain its state of equilibrium. In balance, your “whole self” becomes a crystal prism through which the full spectrum of Life reveals itself as your unique individual expression of it.
